Ebola Virus: Symptoms, Causes, Treatment and Diagnosis

What is the Ebola virus?

Ebola and Marburg virus are similar viruses, whose infection may cause bleeding. There is excessive bleeding in the disease caused by these, the body parts stop working and most patients may die. These two viruses are born in Africa, where there has been a sporadic outbreak of this disease for many decades.
Ebola and Marburg viruses live in the body of animals and exposure to infected animals can lead to this disease. This disease can be caused by exposure to the body, blood, sweat, etc. of the person infected with this virus or exposure to fluid (body fluid) or contaminated needle.

How does Ebola Virus spread

Ebola virus is mainly in the body of a teropodide variety of fruit and pollen grains (fruit bat). In humans, Ebola is spread through exposure to blood, stools, urine, organs or other secretions of infected sick or dead animals such as chimpanzee, gorilla, and monkey found in rain forests.

If the skin or mucous membrane is torn, Ebola spreads from one person to another due to exposure to blood or other types of secretion from the body of the infected person and from these secretions, such as contaminated place and bed cloth.

Ebola Virus Symptoms

Signs of infection of Ebola or Marburg virus suddenly begin to appear suddenly within five to 10 days. Early symptoms can be:
  1. fever
  2. Unbearable headache
  3. Pain in joints and muscles
  4. Too much frost
  5. Weakness
After a short time, the symptoms start to become serious and these problems start to emerge:
  1. Nausea and vomiting
  2. Diarrhea
  3. Blindness in eyes
  4. Pain in the chest and cough
  5. Stomach ache
  6. Fast weight event
  7. Hemorrhoids
  8. Internal bleeding

Ebola Virus Causes and risk factors

Ebola virus has been found in African monkeys, chimpanzee, and other primates. The less severe form of Ebola has been found in monkeys and pigs in Philippine. Marburg virus has been found in African monkeys, the chimpanzee.

Human Infection from Animals -
Experts believe that these two viruses spread through different types of secretions from the body of infected animals. like:

Blood-
The infection spreads by cutting or eating infected animals. Experts who had torn the animals for the study had also been infected.

Feces urine-
Tourists and miners from some caves in Africa have been infected with the Marburg virus and it is feared that their infected bats will be caused by exposure to stool and urine.

Prevention of Ebola Virus

Prevention of Ebola virus contact is the best way to prevent it. By taking the following precaution it can prevent infection.

Do not go to the place where this disease is out of control -

Before going to Africa, find out about the latest epidemics spread there.

Regularly wash your hands-
As with other infectious diseases, there is also an important way of avoiding Ebola. Keep washing your hands regularly. Use soap and water to wash hands, or if there is no soap and water available, use alcohol hand sanitizer-rubs which contain at least 60 percent alcohol.

Do not eat wild animals meat ;
After visiting Africa, avoid eating the meat of wild animals including primates such as chimpanzees, gorillas found in local markets in African countries.

Stay away from infected people-
Those taking care of the patient should avoid contact with other types of secretion, including their blood, saliva in particular. Ebola or Marburg disease becomes the most contagious in the final phase.

Follow the transition-control process-
If you are a health worker, then wear gloves, masks, gowns, and eye shields. Keep infected patients away from others. Destroy the needles and also disinfect the other equipment.
Do not touch the dead body of the Ebola

infected person-
The bodies of Ebola or Marburg victims are also infected. Their funeral should be done specifically by the organized and trained team through proper safety equipment.

Diagnosis of Ebola Virus

Diagnosis of Ebola and Marburg Hemorrhagic fever is difficult because its early symptoms are similar to diseases like typhoid and malaria. If the doctor thinks that you are suffering from Ebola or Marburg virus then they ask to investigate the following:
  1. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay
  2. Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction

Ebola Virus Treatment

Anti-viral medicines cannot cure any infection with any of these viruses.
  1. Fluid feeding
  2. Controlling blood pressure
  3. Providing required oxygen
Maintaining a lack of blood in the body
Treating other infections at the time of illness
